John Collins Warren photographs, ca. 1850-1918.

Photographs collected by physician John Collins Warren (1842-1927). Most of the photographs are portraits that depict various members of the Warren family and other physicians, including John Collins Warren (1778-1856), Jonathan Mason Warren, John Collins Warren (1842-1927), John Warren, John Lothrop Motley, and John Rathbone Oliver, among others. Other subjects include views of various places of importance to the Warren family, including the Warren house in Roxbury, Mass. and Crowninshield house in Salem, Mass.; photographs of John Warren's training with the U.S. Army Medical Reserve Corps during World War I; and photographs of artwork, artifacts, and manuscripts collected by the Warren family. Photographers include Frederick Gutekunst of Philadelphia, Pa. and James Wallace Black, John Adams Whipple, and the Notman Photograph Company of Boston, Mass., among others. John Collins Warren, surgeon and naturalist, was born in Boston in 1778, the son of Harvard physician John Warren and Abigail (Collins) Warren.
